Interesting autograph on Harbinger Bluebird

I bought this a while ago, no idea where, but I pulled it out of a long box recently and the autograph caught my attention. I'm assuming that's Bob Layton's signature, but I'm wondering who Joe is. My first guess is Joe St. Pierre, but it could be Joe Quesada for all I know. 20210308_135144.jpg Sent...

Re: 29 years of collecting Valiant...

Here's an idea. Why don't you add terms like "SJW" and "forced diversity" to your profanity filter, or give them some fun effect like you did with Dynamite. Is "Dynamite sucks" not a thing anymore? I think that idea has already been done...check out George Orwell’s 198...

Shame to see you part with them. It won't be easy (or cheap) to replace them if you ever decide to. I've never been a hard-core completionist in regards to Valiant. A reading set is good enough for me and something I'll never part with. The premiums I have are because I found them at "give-awa...

Re: Who redeemed the coupons?

I cut out the coupons and sent away for Image 0 and those 0 issues from Ultraverse. Does that count for anything? Didn't Image let you make photocopies of the coupons rather than tear them out of the comic? I remember that some company did, but it definitely wasn't Image. That was an Ultrave...

Just curious how many of us clipped the coupons back in the day and sent away for Harby Pink and Magnus #0? It was torture cutting them out btw.... I know what you're talking about. I sat at a Mid-Ohio Con for hours in the mid-90's to meet Brian Bendis long before anyone knew who he was. I stopped buying most of the titles after Chaos Effect. I think I kept Harbinger and Magnus on my pull list for a few months longer and bought other issues here and there when I found them in bargain bins.

isn't there some nice Hardcover editions of Dreadstar coming out soon? (or already out)? Dynamic Forces released a hardcover collecting the first 12 issues of the ongoing series. Big Dreadstar fan here and a big Starlin fan in general. Not sure I'd be able to make a judgement call on what his best work was, but the original Epic run of Dreadstar was amazing. It's definitely my favorite run from the 80s. After the climax of the original storyline (issue 31 or so), the series ...

What If v1 were some of my favorite comics growing up. I always dug seeing alternate endings to stories I really liked. So many memorable ones to choose from. I spent major dollars back in the day chasing various comic card sets. If I remember correctly, I opened 5 or 6 boxes of the second Upper Deck Valiant set trying to get all the chase cards (I never did find one of them and was convinced for a while that they screwed up...PA 14, I think). The set tha...

This thread is a real bummer. Dragon's Lair was never my primary shop, but I've spent a lot of money there over the years I lived close. I was back in Dayton for Christmas and stopped by, but they were closed due to the crazy snow (like everything else downtown was). They always had an annual sale w...

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Garth Ennis' work yet. I loved the Goddess mini he did with Phil Winslade and the two Bloody Mary minis with Carlos Ezquerra. Though I've liked his series work, I think he tends to lose steam the longer the series runs. Preacher was amazing up into the 40s, but seeme...

The first major upgrade over the newsprint format that I recall was when DC rebooted Teen Titans in 1984. This was the first time I'd seen full page bleeds. DC also started the prestige format (Dark Knight?). It seems to me that DC spearheaded most of the printing innovations.

I thought Englehart wrote Night Man. You're probably thinking of Firearm.

It's too bad the Ultraverse went the way it did. It definitely started out with lots of talent.

One of my all-time favs that I've read over and over is the Gilgamesh II mini that Starlin did for DC back in the late 80's. http://image2.milehighcomics.com/istore/images/fullsize/35735391868.1.GIF It was basically a re-working of the Superman story into a cold war era socio-political commentary wi...
