Books like Badger and Nexus were first published by Capital, then were continued at First once Capital went belly up. Also Whisper started as a Capital title then was picked up by First. Here is my scan of the book. Scanned it in Photoshop on a 300dpi setting.
Saved it at 500x760 pixel size.

Bump up your DPI settings while scanning will help stop this problem.
Scan at 300 DPI and I bet that will correct the problem.
