Re: NVU without Magnus and Solar

Random House does not own the rights to Magnus, Turok, or Solar. They are owned by Classic Media, check out their website at http://www.classicmedia.tv/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Classic and Random House were partners at one time, but as of 2009 they are no longer. Given the ...

Re: NVU without Magnus and Solar

Reading this topic, I guess no one heard. Dark Horse no longer holds the rights to the gold key characters. This went out in May of last year.

"In this context, Janet Jackson (not the singer) creative collaborator and partner of Jim Shooter for decades, posted;

Unfortunately, Dark Horse has ...

Chill Winston.

It could be considered the most succesful comic, as it was in the The Times top 100 books... no other comic/graphic novel was.[/quote]

Ok because the times says it's 1 of the top 100 english novels, that makes it the best comic ever.

Guess it does not matter ...

The people for the Watchman movie can’t say that it’s from the most successful “comic” of all time. That is why they said graphic novel, not because comics are viewed as for kids.

Why can't they?

Because it's not the highest selling?

If that's the case, they could have said that it's from ...

Yes, Turok is a household name but how many Turok comics are selling?

I think the fact of the matter is that, while they are making strides, comics is still looked upon as mainly for kids.

Seriously, how many people would go to their new job and tell anybody there that they collect comic books ...

I disagree with you on quite a few things here. The obvious one is that the new stories are 15 years old... though they may take place back then, they are new stories. I think that they are using those as a means of establishing a direction in which they are planning to take the comics.

As far ...

It's very clear that those who own VEI are interested in recouping some of the $1 million dollars spent (and whatever the cost of the legal fight) first and foremost. Think of it like this, anyone who went out and just slapped $1500 down on their credit card for a new TV is going to be concerned ...

Didn't JMS claim that what he disagreed with was keeping the continuity and trying to fix it by explaining how everything still happened except for the marriage? That he was still for splitting them up but not how it was done?

I know I read before civil war that both JMS & Quesada didn’t like ...

For the current Marvel management would the whole Spiderman one more day saga count as a failure, it did not go over very well. Guess its never a good idea to erase 20 years of a characters history on an editors whim.

I actually thought it was selling quite well . . .

And the recent Venom ...

Interesting discussion you guys have going on here.

Ok, first off, how can you say that the 1st series of Valiant failed?? The goal of Voyager (notice I said Voyager, not Shooter) was to sell comics. In 5 years time they went from being a nobody to the 3rd largest comic book publisher in the ...

The last E-Bay auction that ended on Aug 7 had 8 bidders on the book. So I would think the ones that went earlier had more than 1 bidder on each of the auctions, short of a buy it now.

Voice of reason

I have been watching these boards for a few years now, and this is the first time I have thought of jumping into the fray.

A little history of myself

The first comic I (my Father for me) ever bought off the newstand was Amazing Spider-man #90 (what a book to be your first!!). Side note, my father ...
