Re: Anyone else underwhelmed?

I suppose thats the way to go. I read so few other titles though, I really don't have many points of reference.

Anyone else underwhelmed?

Ok, judging from the universal praise I am seeing, I expect to be alone or nearly alone on this. I really haven't been blown away by anything I have read in the new books. They are pretty decent, but the original Valiant created a gold standard that no comic has ever come close to in my book. Perhap...

Re: Will you read this line if it's relaunched without Shoot

I think more people thought the release schedule was the problem more than Shooter and I'm sure that DH was dropping it because of the decline in readers (which is a direct result of the poor release schedule, I've heard). It just doesn't make much sense to me to take him out of the series if they ...

Re: Will you read this line if it's relaunched without Shoot

Big Jim had these comments on his blog, after being critical of Marvel and DC leadership he went out of his way to be diplomatic in regards to DH leadership---- "Dark Horse still might hire me again for something. To prove my courage I could assure you that I would criticize the hell out of Mik...

Re: Dark Horse Gold Key Release Dates

Turok #3 arrived at my shop this week. I have to say the art was distractingly bad. It was so ugly i didn't really take time to read the story well the firs ttime around. After rereading it though, i think it was a very solid issue (art aside) and am hopeful for a strong finish in issue 4.

Re: Dark Horse Gold Key Release Dates

Comic shops not getting Turok is surprising. We've got every reason to believe if a shop didn't get Turok this week, it'll ship next week, right? Talked to the manager at my shop, which didn't get Turok in, and she said it is on her invoice from Diamond next week. As for Dr. Solar, the lead story w...

Re: Dark Horse Gold Key Release Dates

Graham Crackers Comics of Chicago lists Dr. Solar coming out today, but not Turok.

I'll stay tuned for sure. early Nexus issues were the first (no pun intended) comics that helped me expand past Marvel or DC.

the Dark Key books have gotten me frequenting comic shops for the first time in a decade. Losing them will be tough, but i am determined to stay in the shops. Just started reading Incorruptible, Irredeemable, Rocketeer, and the Red Skull Incarnate mini that just came out today. Hopefully these titl...

no letter column, each story has the usual "next issue" tag at the end, but nothing beyond that.

I'm going to play devils advocate here: Do you not think BWS style is a bit outdated for a brand new comic company? And is he really going to be able to attract new readers? And has he done anything in the last few years? I'd love to see some more BWS Archer & Armstrong, and so would everyone h...

Re: BWS on Valiant Facebook feed

This is how rumors get started......from the Valiant Facebook wall: I thought the same thing when I read it... like I wonder if they're trying to hint to something. I'm not really sure if BWS is even available these days, but I have to admit that the more originals they can get involved, the bright...

BWS on Valiant Facebook feed

This is how rumors get started......from the Valiant Facebook wall: Master storyteller Barry Windsor-Smith shows us how its done in this page from Archer & Armstrong. Beautiful panel design http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/261252_154591011280144_144239175648661_356414_2031486_n.jpg

this one is a bit of a letdown after a whirlwind issue 1. The characters seem a bit wooden and underdeveloped, and the story was nothing that hasn't been done a million times before. i

seems like the title is picking up some steam. A varied cast of supporting characters is developing, and I like that Leeja and Magnus weren't paired together right off the bat. a good love triangle can give this title some spice. Magnus gets some new threads in this one. I wasn't expecting to like t...

i picked it up. read through it quickly, and i am pretty hopeful for the series. the story didn't knock my socks off, but it sets the table for a good ongoing series. the setting is "500 years after the end of the world". i wonder when that was? 4001? 4005? 5001? i love the mystery. that ...

i know the opinions on this series have been lukewarm so far, but it has been my favorite right off the bat. the art has gotten much better since the FCBD issue, and i have liked Robinson's work. but the real draw here is SHooter's ability to write believable science fiction AND create characters wh...
