I also think comic storytelling has lost it's way of late in mainstream comics. The uber-details are unimportant. Just tell the story. I am a student of the Jim Shooter school of thought. I also hope each issue of the new VEI doesn't take me only 5 minutes to read. I also hope they stay away from do...

Valiant back in the day was successful because of story, regardless of how "bad" the art was. They hired a lot of new Kubert school graduates because they were cheap labor, so, I assume, didn't pay them very much. So, it wasn't the art. The art got the job done, but I wouldn't call it &quo...

You're all probably right. Just looking for conspiracy theories where there are none. Starting a ruckus. Stuff like that. :D It would be a conspiracy if Jim Shooter announces that he's leaving Dark Horse to join VEI at SDCC (which I don't think will happen). In my opinion I would say the percentage...

Coincidence?

Does anyone else have any suspicions that the apparent demise/hiatus/whatever of the Dark Key line of comics and today's announcement that VEI will be publishing soon is not a coincidence? These happened too close to each other to be random, in my humble opinion. I mean, VEI hasn't reported ANYTHING...

uh yeah, I'm sure you're aware, but Wikipedia can be edited by anybody and everybody, so often times a lot of the information can be hearsay and just opinions, however wrong or skewed, of those that contributed to writing the page.

The guy who wrote that sounds like a Shooter hater to me.

If DH was an indy publisher, those numbers would be fantastic. But, considering that they are the #3 or 4 size publisher, not so great. :?

I know! They should make a movie first, and then the comics will start selling more and become successful! :hm: :P

Re: Solar Trade

Anyone know if they go back to the printer on the Solar trade if the new copies will be denoted as second prints, or will they be exactly the same as the first prints? If the book market is anything like comics, I would imagine they would be considered 2nd printings. Unless DH printed more than the...

I'm getting the idea that 3 of the 4 books will be 4 issue mini-series' and the Solar book should finish up the Solar Origin which was 6 issues total that started with #5 right? :? I heard Solar ends with issue 8 or 9. That news allegedly came from the editor of the books himself, through a respons...

Dark Horse is listing Solar # 7 coming out on July 11th. July!!?? Man, I am sorry to see these books go, but at the same time, it's like put the line out of its misery already! Contacting Dark Horse about the Gold Key line

Okay, so I don't usually do this, because I know my voice alone isn't enough, but maybe a combined effort would work. I sent a message to Dark Horse saying the following: "I am very sad to hear the news that the Gold Key revival issues are being cancelled. I truly did enjoy them while they last...

So, ARE these never coming out? Last two issues next month? No one knows? Anyone? Bueller? Magnus #4 and Samson #3 will be released. It appears the Magnus TPB will also be released. Nothing other than that. This according to TFAW (Things From Another World). Amazon has a Volume 3 Archive for Dr. Sp...

Yeah--I think that ship has sailed. Unfortunately, based on what I read, Shooter basically up and left VEI without warning to work at Dark Horse. Could be wrong. I wouldn't blame VEI if they told him to take a hike, assuming Shooter even approaches them (which I doubt). Besides, does VEI even have a...

very bad news. :( I missed out on Valiant back in the day, and felt this was kind of like a second chance. I supported it, even though it was constantly late. Too bad the Solar origin story will never get published in its entirety now.

I don't really think about VEI anymore. If they come out with comics in the future, cool, I'll check them out. Otherwise, yeah, I don't give them much of my thought time anymore.

The thing about Jim Shooter is that, while I believe him because I am a fan, all he is saying is essentially hearsay. There is no way that any of us can really varify his claims. I don't know him personally either, so I also have an image in my head about him that is likely not accurate. Though base...

I am patiently waiting for the lead story to actually go somewhere, and be on a grander scope that what it is--things are moving soooooo slow. It's solid though--I am not disappointed, but waiting for it to get bigger. I guess my expectations are kind of high. Though, when I think of the Solar stori...

Isn't the editor the one to keep things on track and deadlines met? What is Chris Warner doing? I've always kind of just blamed him for the deadline problems (even though I have no basis for this, other than knowing what his job is).

Turok 1 script on Shooter's blog

http://www.illustratedmedia.com/downloa ... 052810.pdf

Don't know if anyone noticed it yet, but it's tucked away at the very bottom of his blog.

I am always amazed on how detailed he gets. He makes it remarkably easy for the artist to do his job.

I also wonder, these books are not selling well, so DH probably doesn't care as much about the release dates (and their constant last-minute release date changes--they have to know this bothers their readers), as much as they would Buffy or Star Wars titles, since those are better sellers and make t...

I knew it was too good to be true. By the time April 20th comes around, I have my doubts ANY books will be coming out. This is getting truly pathetic and aggrevating.

If it wasn't for Jim Shooter's writing, I would have dropped these books by now.
