Re: Do you think that the next generation will...

still read comic books?

I was just looking at my daughter's class picture.

I wonder if those 6 year old boys will be future comic book readers?

Just curious about your thoughts.

Not in the traditional sense.

The "pamphlet" format will surely be dead in a couple years. If its not swallowed ...

hey everybody,
first post for me. Glad to see a healthy Valiant community still exists.

A&A were always my number 1 book. The one thing that always bothered me is how quickly Archer went from the angry young man, bent on vengeance, that we saw in the flashback from A&A 0, to the peaceful, level ...

Re: CLARIFICATION Please!!!!!!

Also in Shadowman #1 why did Lydia stop attacking Jack when she drugged him once the light came up, what was that all about?

I think, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that she was reacting to Aric's battle against the Harbinger kids depicted in X-0 #4.

I don't think so. That battle took ...

I'm glad to see that Dino and Co. bit the bullet and settled this puppy. Really, when you get right down to it, it was the only practical alternative.

It'll be interesting to see what new products they'll unveil now that they've got clear title. Today's marketplace isn't yesterday's, and if it ...

Hell, look at Bruce Wayne in Dark Knight Returns, Frank Castle in Punisher: The End and King Conan. I'd rather read about those guys than a teen-aged Wolverine any day.

To tell you the truth Valiant wasn't "Valiant "shortly after Jim left. So trying to save issues and story lines that were sub par as well as the later books that got downright ridiculous doesn't appeal to me much. If most of the stories would have been worthy of pre unity status I would agree, keep ...

I'm sure that some stores didn't like having to add on another vendor when they are used to using just Diamond. My shop didn't order any from VEI (which means that the 4 stores in the chain didn't get any and there probably weren't many, if any sold in the bay area). I think Diamond dropping the ...

I believe Deathmate translates as "inmates running the asylum" in Southern Martian Comic Dialect. Even as a young teen, I soon realized to stay away from anything associated directly with the name "Liefeld." How many times did Layton punch him in the stomach to get him to "pencil" his pages?

Shooter and the new Valiant

From reading the forum descriptions, this seemed like the best place to post this:

If Jim Shooter were brought in to construct "his" version of the original Valiant Universe beginning after Unity and ignoring everything that was originally published by Voyager and Acclaim after the crossover would ...

Re: Need Help from someone who has actually read the books!!

I have been trying to speak with people that have full runs of valiant and half of those i have spoken with have not even read the books.

Anyway, my question is this.....

What point including Chaos effect is a good clean break point. For example if you quit reading valiant after unity, there were ...

DarqueArcher wrote:X-O to Iron Man?
The pre-unity X-O struck me as a cross between Hulk and Iron Man.

Of course, Harada and his Eggbreakers are very similar to Professor X and his X-Men.

Solar reminded me of Reed Richards a lot.

Maybe they were trying to reach a larger audience and thought that making it too VALIANT-centric would have hurt it.

They had the audience though. Readers were into Valiant, and you've got to go with what brought you to the dance. Shooter's methods may have got him fired in the long run but they ...

To me, this issue marked the end of the Valiant Comics I loved and the beginning of something, different. I also remember waiting for this issue to come out with baited breath because my teenage mind knew that whatever happened, nothing would be the same ever again. And I was right.

I never read this title, so I don't know if it included any perspective on the events in Rai #0, but I would have based at least the first year around Ivar's involvement in those historic events or their aftermaths.
