Faith: Taking Flight

Not sure this is of interest to anyone, but thought I would pass it along just in case. I was randomly at a Dollar Tree this week and saw hardback copies of the Faith: Taking Flight book. Usually, these books tend to be available at most stores as they've been liquidated from other retailers, so if ...

Nice, I'll be picking that up.

It'd be nice if they release a volume 2 of some of the other classic omnibuses that have been released as well.

It'd be interesting if they'd do a collection of the original Doctor Tomorrow series as part of the release of this new series.

Re: Recent Photo of BWS

Great picture!! What was Joe doing for work that he retired well into his nineties? It said he was retiring from comic books at age 92. Even though he obviously wasn't still active in the industry, I imagine he was doing the occasional commission and whatnot. I checked his website and it mentions h...

Speaking of this -- it'd be nice to see them release some more of these omnibuses (like an XO volume 2 or some more Shadowman beyond what was included in the Masters volume).

Re: What comics are you reading now?

I read volume 1 of Totally Awesome Hulk over the weekend. The trade collects the first six issues of the series. It's written by Greg Pak (who wrote the VEI Eternal Warrior series). I thought it was alright, but definitely not that great. It was a quick read and the art was well-done, but a lot of t...

Re: What comics are you reading now?

I picked up a stack of reader copies (in pretty decent shape) of the 1970s magazine format Savage Sword of Conan . Just got to issue #5 and wow, it's great stuff. Story by Roy Thomas (adapted from the Howard original) and b&w art by John Buscema. 55 pages of story, beautifully rendered! For onl...

I just finished volume 4 (Original Sin) and honestly thought it was the best of the bunch, but there s...

Re: Valiant Comics - Why Don't I Feel More Excited?

Come January I'll be down to 2 Valiant books in my pull-list - that being Shadowman #11 and Bloodshot Rising Spirt #3- which I suspect will drop to 1 book the following month with Shadowman ending at #11 to coincide with the pre-order bundle. Is that speculation, or is it a given that Shadowman is ...

Re: VALIANT ENTERTAINMENT December 2018 Solicitations

So, thoughts on this: - It sucks that Ninja-K is ending at 14 - That Bloodshot cover is not good - I'm not overly worried about Faith sliding a month - With only 5 titles coming out (and it being December), it would have been nice had they released a nice hardcover collection as well (such as the se...

Re: Thomas Kinkade does superheroes now?

Somewhat ironic that there's a graphic that explains Kinkade's edition structure. It's accurately shaped to illustrate the scheme of his art: https://news.artnet.com/app/news-upload/2017/04/thomas-kinkade-editions-pyramid.jpg Regarding the "DNA Signature" -- I've read conflicting things. O...

Re: Thomas Kinkade does superheroes now?

It's fascinating to me that people spend some significant cash on Kinkade art. I understand that his style speaks to some -- but when you look at how many editions might exist for each work that he did, it's clear that these are primarily posters. Here's a description on the Kinkade site that explai...

And that Andy had a two year plan for Jack, that includes Incursion, but that doesn't mean we won't see Andy on Shadowman more. Can you elaborate on this at all? Does this mean the series will go at least 24 issues? Or by "had" does that mean maybe it will be cut shorter? Or perhaps they ...

There’s just a ton of individually owned IPs out there too: The Spirit, Atlas Comics, Kirby-Verse (Silver Star, Captain Victory, etc.), Simon & Kirby heroes (Fighting American, etc.), Tower/Wally Wood (THUNDER Agents), Peter Cannon...Thunderbolt! (owned by the Morisi estate). These all see the ...

And today, I read the second volume of Bendis' 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy series (Angela) which collects issues 4-10. I thought the first volume was, honestly, pretty crappy -- a bland story with bland art. This second volume was a little better in that the stories were a bit more interesting, bu...
