Re: 2020 CGC Registry Awards

So the number of pages may also have something to do with initial point-value and scores. For example, a 24 page new book might receive a baseline score of 24 points (until a request is made with documented sales records to justify a point-value increase), whereas my Life and Death of Toyo Harada 9....

Re: 2020 CGC Registry Awards

CGC is also hit/miss on correcting/updating the registry.

They used to take MONTHS to update; then they hired a new guy and it took days.

However, now we are back again to it taking MONTHS to update.

Re: DBS’s “VEI Top 10” - July 2020

I always appreciate these lists and look forward to them every month. I was thinking back to the Wizard Top 10. It wasn’t just based on sales but what was hot. Got me wondering why would the top 10 hit list look like if it was based on what people are looking for (as we know some of the books peopl...

I spoke with two senior VEI employees, who would not (as a matter of policy) give me exact print run numbers; however, they did provide a range for all 1:250s printed (so far) which was 180-200.

Re: DBS’s “VEI Top 10” - July 2020

Nice to see some glass on there! Now that we have confirmation on the approx. print runs for the Glass/Mirror variants I believe that buyer confidence has increased somewhat in these books. CGC not grading the Glass/Mirror was a hard blow IMO that has hurt collector demand for them a bit. However, ...

Re: What happened to the reasonable slab prices on eBay?

Now, some people are different, and pay a LOT for things BEFORE their time if it represents something from the present (e.g. Action Comics #1). This is me. I drive a fully restored 1970 Chevelle SS LS6, which could easily make any Top 10 Muscle Car list. Yet, I was NOT even born until 1978. This ca...

Re: What happened to the reasonable slab prices on eBay?

People don’t really buy comics. They buy back their youth, or they acquire what they could not when they were young. This is why we see people paying for cards, toys, or video game cartridges that are put on display. Notice how the people who own classic muscle cars tend to buy cars that were hot du...

Correct. I do not know what the X-O Brushed Metal print run was. Someone will need to ask Dinesh for that one. We can reasonably suspect a similar number, but as it was the “first” it will be difficult to guess. I recall Dinesh stating 200, but I can’t recall. It probably is 200; I just can’t find ...
