Eternal Warrior Scorched Earth
This is the first Eternal Warrior story since Incursion in 2019. It's nice to see familiar faces that haven't been seen in years, the big problem with characters being out of circulation for this long is that they can be either stereotypical or simply out of character whenever they do resurface. One...

How do kickstarters even work…can you buy the book after it’s released when the reviews are in? It all depends on the publisher, some projects are only available through the Kickstarter, but since they're marketing this as a Kickstarter exclusive edition it sounds like they plan to release another ...

Re: Acclaim Rai & The Mother God 1-3. Any info?
I don't know, this seems like it has all the markings of a Mark Hoffman level forgery, tbh. It seems like an unbelievably convenient find, desirable to hardcore collectors, but strangely unheard of until now.

The Visitor #5
This finally came out a year since the last issue. I can barely remember what was going on in the first 4 issues, but this is the first one that actually seems to establish ties to the Valiant universe, Dr. Silk and 4001 Japan . The new art team sort of matches the style, although it's a little slop...

Re: How important is colour?
Marvel and DC used to do a lot of cheap black & white reprints but color printing has become so much more affordable the last few decades that they abandoned that in favor of full color volumes. Unless it was an artists edition with just the original art, converting already colored comics to bla...

Re: Savage (2021) #2
I think the art is fine, but it doesn't match the tone of the first mini. VEI set a precedent in which Savage had cartoon-y art (Henry) for most of the story, but realistic art (LaRosa) for the flashforwards. If DMG were smart they would have hired someone like LaRosa, Suayan, or Braithwaite for a ...

The redesigned suit was unexpected, and it appears they're going to change his powers along with it. I guess this really solidifies the change from VEI to DMG.

Rai #10 (2020)
Not only is this the only book right now that feels like it's set in the Valiant Universe, this book is the Valiant Universe. Unfortunately, volume one ends on a cliffhanger with an indefinite "Rai will return" next issue blurb. There hasn't been a book from any publisher in a while that h...

Re: XO Manowar [2020] #1 Discussion
I really had hopes this would be the book that turned the ship around after an unimpressive year without the A-list characters for the most part. There hasn't really been any book that moves the Valiant universe forward in any meaningful way, and if X-O isn't going to do that then there's really not...

It was great to finally be able to see the whole thing. I wish they could've continued this universe, the characters didn't really get much of an introduction so spin-offs would have really helped flesh out this version of the universe.

My theory is that Booth can't figure out what's going on in this story either, even though he drew it. I think I would have just killed myself if I had to try to make sense of this script enough to try to illustrate it.

I just remembered...when I was reading Archer and Armstrong I noted that every single cover had Archer using arrows...but almost never in the books! I don't remember but I think it was like two or three TPBs before he did. He took Mary Maria's crossbow in issue #3 and was already using it in the ne...

Psi-Lords #7 Discussion
X-O Manowar actually appears in a Valiant book! He doesn't really do much, Capshaw just advises him to save himself and get off of earth before the vampire star collides with the planet. Finally, if we're going to get D-list books we should at least get A-list guest stars every now and then. I guess...

Re: Let’s talk solutions to fix Valiant!
I guess we'll discount Livewire, Punk Mambo, Killers and Roku from this year and not count them as Harbie, Shadowman and Ninjak books? So we're at 2 right now. X-0, Harbinger and Shadowman are all on their way. That's 5. Q&W is on the way too, so if you count them as a tentpole, that's 6. No, I...

Re: Let’s talk solutions to fix Valiant!
The days of Valiant feeling like a shared universe are sadly gone and probably never coming back. The new model is that pretty much everything is a limited series and self-contained. For some odd reason, DMG has decided to mine all its lesser-known IP's (Psi-Lords, Punk Mambo, Roku, Dr. Tomorrow, th...

Re: Bloodshot (2019) #2 discussion
Frankly, the books haven't even been worth my time to comment on. I had hopes that a new Bloodshot book could turn things around but that wasn't meant to be. This series is better than the last one, but that's not saying much. I don't feel any connection to the characters and nothing feels connected...

Yeah, the solicited cover has the same logo as the previous issues, but the logo on the actual cover is different from that too.
