Re: Valiant Summit: What new title are you most excited abou

Gen Zero - love these characters and can't wait to see what FVL can do for psiots.

Renegades - interested to see how someone else handles Peter and Co.

Britannia - not what I expected but let's see what Milligan does with it.

Re: ROM and Micronauts Returning...Creative Teams Announced!

Micronauts #2 was released last week. Another fun issue. I'm liking the dynamics of this new team and I like how Bunn is using their motivations and reactions to reveal more of this new galactic civil war instead of using a massive info dump exposition. The art is near-perfect for this type of book,...

Hardcover #2 is out this week! Just picked one up today. Beautiful cover & collection. :cloud9: In case anyone is wondering, the extra material in the back does not repeat any of the material in the Sourcebook:Carlysle issue - or at least it doesn't look like it to me after a glance through. I ...

LOVED this book. Me too. It was sad in a non-sad way. It's the kind of writing I would love to discuss in a classroom type of setting. I could see that being a good discussion idea - there's some heavy commentary about human nature layered into this book. Loved the exploration of that idea t...

I also thought Gilad seemed a bit too hulk-ish in strength when he was slamming and snapping large chunks of machinery. I didn't have the impression his immortality also gave him strength similar to Aram... The scientists who were monitoring Gilad as he climbed through the labyrinth did mention his...

Re: 4001 AD X-O Manowar Discussion

Slightly disappointed. The story itself was decent, rather short. Maybe it was just me though but the impression I got from 4001 #1 was that these X-O Knights were feared and held in awe either from what they accomplished or from the destruction they unleashed. Here though, they did nothing except f...

Thanks all for the kind words. Currently I'm in remission and this past year has been the toughest of my life. The Poison arc however was very good. It's great seeing the Barretts again and their efforts & struggles in this new Family war. Johanna up to some new tricks and damn, Eve took a hellu...

Re: IDW Is Developing A ‘M.A.S.K.’ Comic

Loved this cartoon as a kid. It is unique as it does feature two gimmicks: the masks with various powers/abilities and the transforming vehicles. Given the transforming craze of the 80s, naturally the vehicles got most of the attention back then. So hopefully, this comic will expand on the nature/ba...

Re: Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #6 Discussion

Since this occurs in Mesopotamia though, I kept wondering where was Gilgamesh? (Or maybe I'm getting my ancient history confused). According to Archer & Armstrong #0, Armstrong wrote the Epic of Gilgamesh, and the character was a fictional combination of the 3 Anni-Pada brothers! D'oh! facepalm...

Re: Savage!

The way this is done as heraldry makes me wonder if it is related to Britannia? Britannia brings to my mind the imagery of King Arthur. This crest has what looks like a dragon upon it. Dragons are associated with Arthurian legend. (Pendragon perhaps?) Or I could just be rambling and now in the mood...

Hm, interesting image with no context, the soldier's eyes seem to convey that he and his comrades are over-matched.

Britannia brings to mind King Arthur.

My biggest takeaway from the issue was a possible clue to who Father is. He refers to the armor Rai uses as a "nuclear abomination" that he "dares bring to New Japan". We all know that Harada has an aversion to nuclear weapons... Solid catch. :thumb: If we're going with Harada c...

I had only read #1 of this title so far. It's tone and material weren't exactly to my liking but now, after reading everyone's comments on these last two issues, decided to check back in. Really glad that I did. These last two issues were amazing. Ryp's art enhances the violence so well and the leve...

Read Micronauts #1. Off to a decent start. Bunn introduces a new mix of characters along with some classic favorites such as Acroyear, Microtron, and Biotron. Karza looks as imposing as ever. While we get some bare details of the conflict brewing now, the interaction between the team was fun. The ar...

Greg Rucka now has my everlasting loyalty. As you may (or may not) remember, I've had previous fan letters printed in various issues of Lazarus. Yes, loved the art in this issue. The tone, the coloring, the detail, it all looks like something you'd see in an FX show. I'm thankful that Bloodsquirt's over-cartoony form wasn't present to distract from the high quality of the art. I don't feel sorry for the kid. If you accept that animal mutilat...

Overall, I've enjoyed this title. It's had its' highs and lows certainly, but it's been an atypical team book. I think it's biggest obstacle has been a lack of clearly defined purpose. They also need to lose the overbearing governmental control.

While I've been enjoying this arc, this finale does fall somewhat flat. Anchor's storyline, while heartfelt, comes completely out of left field.
