Re: VEI feels like an alternate universe..

We've seen him go through 2-3 angsty episodes where he gets *SQUEE* and stops serving the Earth. Maybe every time this happens he gets a little older and by 4001 he's done this so many times he actually aged by 30 years? :?

Re: Will DC's $3 books hurt Valiant

I doubt it, last time DC drew the line at $2.99, it lasted for all of 6 months before they raised prices to $3.99 again.

Re: Rai reread

Spylocke having a British accent makes sense because he's Ninjak's successor. I'm sorry if I missed this but is there any indication in the comic that he is related to Ninjak? I'm really not sure what his deal is, I get he is like a secret spy guy, but I don't understand his motivations. Yes, they ...

Re: Rai reread

Issue 1: When you are reading a comic book, do you ever find yourself giving the characters different voices in your head while reading the dialogue? The Raddies quickly became British accented… So did Spylocke even though I know this is about Japan. I tried imagining them all with Japanese accents...

Re: A&A: The One Percent #1

If Stan Lee wrote the AA 1% book in 1964, all of the action we saw in this issue would have taken up no more than a single page; maybe two. Instead, this issue covered no more than maybe two hours of activity spread over 22 pages: a heated boardroom and a mad dash car ride to the airport. That's no...

Re: New VALIANT Jungle Hero

Weeeellllll...if it's not the same character and it doesn't have the same creators behind it, I really don't see much point in Valiant trying to rehash the Gold Key Heroes with blatant knockoffs. I'd rather they either come up with entirely original books or do new books that are spinoffs of the exi...

Re: Dynamite Comics is releasing new Gold Key comics....

Whoops, guess I incorrectly assumed that VEI's sales where always at 10-12K. At any rate, I stand by my point that the Gold Key heroes are capable of competing with the Valiant characters. Not having Jim Shooter on board like they did during the Dark Horse revival might complicate that, but the fanb...

Re: Dynamite Comics is releasing new Gold Key comics....

I agree with you here, but in terms of sales, I seem to recall the Dark Horse line charting numbers not too far off from where VEI is (per issue) now? I'm not 100% on that, and don't know where to find these numbers. Hoping someone else can chime in. Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom ended after issue ...

But long term something that cannot really be built on (packaging books for collected editions; referencing events/characters). Why complicate things? :? :) Wait, you are not calling for something like a sort-of new Deathmate are you...? :o Smelled like it to me. :D If VEI can't own and control Mag...

Re: Archer & Armstrong #14 Discussion

Usually I hate the mention of social media in comic books, I think making specific references only helps date something, in a couple years you'll probably look back at this one and go "Oh yeah, facebook...that was a thing". I remember ranting about how stupid I thought it was in Action Co...

There's also the possibility that the this issue takes place prior to the 1963 flashback in A&A. We haven't seen any technology or historical references which would contradict that yet.

Re: X-O Manowar #17 Discussion

I actually enjoyed this issue more than the 2-part Eternal Warrior crossover. It felt like the last two issues were leaning too heavily on Gilad instead of giving us a proper story; this issue is much better. As for the ethnicity thing, I remember way back when they were planning the rebellion aboar...

Anyone wanna take bets on how long until Granite dies? It's not that I want her to die, but the way this issue focuses on her and her reason for joining so much more than every other character makes it feel like they're setting her up for a major tragedy. Especially after that part where she hugs Ko...

Re: UNITY RED - Preview book

Really, Shadowman Black is rare? I was visiting some relatives for Thanksgiving last year, made a trip to the comic shop I used to go when I was younger, and saw it sitting on the shelf in front of all the normal covers for $3.99. I knew it was a variant and all, but I had no idea how lucky I was. T...

Re: Archer & Armstrong #13 Discussion

Why is everybody so upset about Armstrong having sex with somebody who's 18 years old? She's a legal adult as far as the United States is concerned, and the age difference between them now isn't much less than the age difference will be in 70 years because Armstrong is over 6000 years old. Everybody...

Very solid issue. I love the fact that there was a lot of inner monologue, first with Xaran in the past and then with Gilad in the present. Lots of interesting stuff and more questions, as you state. I didn't mind the sketchy feel of the artwork. I think it was appropriate for the time period and t...

I want to learn what his powers are. I never read the original Shadowman, and the new series has completely dropped the ball on that front. All I know is he travels to the deadside and swings a scythe around.
