Re: #IDWPublishing is teaming up with cutting-edge comic book publisher Alien Books!

Honestly, I'm more surprised that IDW is still in business. :o

Heh.

I'm good with IDW doing VALIANT via Alien. It could be good. IDW does make high quality comics, no? I mean in terms of production values and such.

And, who knows, maybe someone in Hollywood is looking and this could be a ...

Re: Derek Kolstad’s Sci-Fi Comic Book ‘Planet Death’ Sells 655K Copies

I can't help but wonder what the numbers would be if Derek Kolstad wasn't involved would they be lower, the same, or higher? :hm:
Some of this success is because he's wrote the John Wick movies (and FTR I love the John Wick movies) but that is an easy selling point *From the writer of John Wick ...

Re: SCHISM from DEFIANT - Kickstarter ft. Jim Shooter, David Lapham

Great to see the round 2 arrive with more reasonable expectations! As a fan since the beginning of Defiant until the end, I can’t wait to read Schism after all these years.

I’ve personally avoided reading the plot and produced pages that have been available online for years for some odd reason ...

Re: Iconic game publisher Acclaim has been resurrected, with wrestler Jeff Jarrett as advisor

Maybe they can help Alien get Valiant back on track.

There's a something here about a WWE wrestler saving Acclaim when VALIANT began with publishing WWE comics...

AFAIK Jeff Jarrett has not worked for WWE for at least 10-30 years as in-ring wrestler some of it being that Steve Austin didn ...

What does Star Trek have to do with Detmer? :?

Detmer is a character in Star Trek Discovery.

You are not killing the joke properly.

Think of the GK3 like Star Trek or Transformers the owners of IP license them to whoever they want for as long a certain amount of time/sales requirement. They might have certain rules of what you can do major characters (Captain Kirk or Optimus Prime) but more freedom with secondary ...

Re: Alien looking to sell direct to consumer

No, Alien Books is not DMG in disguise, they are a separate company that licensed the VALIANT characters FROM DMG to make comics, the same way Voyager licensed Solar, Magnus, and Turok from Random House/Classic Media.

Voyager licensed the characters directly from Western Publishing, one of ...

If he’s a bot, how can he have an iq? Aren’t bots just scripts that have a pretty limited range of responses? No capacity that would be described by iq.

This is when that botched Eternal Warrior Kickstarter is really going to bite them in the *SQUEE*. Maybe they overdeliver with the Bloodshot Kickstarter and build some enthusiasm. But I don't think it's going to shake out that way with the rewards shipping in phases and the story already ...

Re: Valiant Alien Diamond Woes

Valiant is about as popular as Ultraverse in that it's still seen by non-Valiant fans as a popular but failed 90s comics company that is often at best seen now by those non-Valiant fans as a cautionary tale of greedy 90s excess and/or as a joke. Valiant is a cult classic line like Chaos, Defiant ...

I didn’t think it would hit them so heavily. I’m so sad for this and hope they figure out new distribution. I would buy direct, if necessary.

Poor creators who were counting on the work.

Charlemagne in Latin is Carolus Magnus, though Shooter has said that the similarity between the names is just a coincidence.

Since the same company owns Defiant, Broadway, and the Gold Key characters I've often wondered what a shared universe with all those characters would look like.

Weird.
